Our return policy is simple – if you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you can return it to any of our Petco or Unleashed by Petco stores or to one of our petco.com warehouses.

Easy Returns

Free Returns or Exchanges to Any Petco or Unleashed by Petco Store

Your local Petco or Unleashed by Petco store will gladly accept the return of your petco.com order within 60 days of the initial shipment date.

Before returning merchandise to a Petco or Unleashed by Petco store, print your receipt. Please have your order details handy. If you do not have a receipt, you will be issued a merchandise credit for the listed store price or allowed to exchange the product for something else.

If you received an incorrect item or are requesting a refund of shipping charges due to a petco.com error, please contact Customer Service. Personalized items and prescription food cannot be returned to a store.

Exchanges can be made at any Petco or Unleashed by Petco store location. If exchanging for a different item, you will receive credit for the amount paid as listed on your "Returns to Store Receipt."

Orders placed online using your PayPal account may be returned to any Petco or Unleashed by Petco store for a refund on your credit card or may be exchanged.

Orders placed on Amazon may be returned to a Petco or Unleashed by Petco store for merchandise credit only or may be exchanged.

For returns made after 60 days, you will be issued a merchandise credit for the paid price or allowed to exchange the product for something else.

Purchases made online using your PayPal account may be returned for a merchandise credit or may be exchanged.

Return by mail

Petco.com orders can also be returned by mail within 60 days to one of our warehouse/fulfillment centers. A refund for an item will be issued once it has been received.

At our discretion, a refund may be issued without requiring a return of the product. In these situations, please note that we do not take ownership of the refunded item.

Returning prescription food products

Prescription food products cannot be returned to a Petco or Unleashed by Petco store. They must be returned to the Petco.com distribution center shown below. Please include the original packing slip.

Returning live aquatics

Guarantee

Petco takes great care to ensure that the Live Fish & Invertebrates you order arrives safely and in healthy condition. All Aquatic Life are guaranteed to stay alive for 30 days from the day they arrive at your home or we will gladly refund your money.

Returns or refunds cannot be offered on Live Fish & Invertebrates that you decide you do not want. Please ensure the items you order are what you want before finalizing the order.

If you experience a loss of your marine fish, freshwater fish, or invertebrates within 30 days of delivery please contact Customer Relations at 877-738-6742.

  • You must contact Customer Relations within the required time frame as stated above. No refund can be offered if contact is not made within these time frames.
  • You must email the Customer Relations team a photograph of your specimen as proof of loss.
  • Please do not mail any specimens back to Petco.
  • Live Fish & Invertebrates refunds may only be given by contacting Customer Relations and cannot be given at any Petco store location. Live Fish & Invertebrates CANNOT be returned to any Petco or Unleashed by Petco stores.
  • Please have your order number available when contacting Customer Relations.

Returning items purchased at our Petco or Unleashed by Petco stores

If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you can return it to one of our retail store locations. Items purchased in-store can be returned with a receipt within 60 days for a full refund in the original form of tender.

Returns without a receipt but with valid identification after the 60 days, are eligible for a merchandise credit or an exchange equal to the lowest price at which the returned products were sold. Exclusions to this policy include: grooming tools; filters or pumps; pet medication or vitamins; dog collars and leashes; electronics; and pest control treatments. These products require a valid Petco receipt for any exchange or merchandise credit.

In store services (such as grooming and dog training) & the purchase of any saltwater fish are nonrefundable.
