Back to the Roots AquaFarm 3 Gallon Fish Tank – Desktop Aquarium & Betta Fish Tank
Keep a healthy fish tank and grow plants at the same time with the Back to the Roots AquaFarm 3 Gallon Fish Tank. This innovative Betta fish tank is a small, sustainable and self-cleaning ecosystem that grows food!
The Back to the Roots AquaFarm 3 Gallon Fish Tank is a unique Betta fish tank that creates a closed-loop ecosystem right on your kitchen counter or office desk. The mechanics of the desktop aquarium are simple. A grow bed sits on top of the aquarium with several plant pods. While your Betta creates waste in the aquarium, a pump takes the waste water and deposits it into the grow beds. The waste acts like a natural fertilizer to the plants. The plants grow and thrive on the fish waste, naturally cleaning the water at the same time.
When the Back to the Roots AquaFarm 3 Gallon Fish Tank is up and running, it should function as a closed loop, which means that you won’t have to clean the water! No soil or green thumb is required. This wonderful Betta fish tank will take care of itself as long as you keep your beautiful Betta fed and top up the water as needed.
The Back to the Roots AquaFarm 3 Gallon Fish Tank makes a great desktop aquarium for the office, the kitchen or the classroom. Children will absolutely love watching the Betta swim and the plants sprout above. You can grow all sorts of organic produce with this Betta fish tank, including basil, lettuce, wheatgrass, mint, rosemary and more. If you’ve always wanted an herb garden, this desktop aquarium can give you fresh, organic herbs to enhance every meal. The AquaFarm also makes a thoughtful gift for the plant and pet lovers in your life!
The AquaFarm comes with everything you need to set up the desktop aquarium, including fish food, organic seeds and a Betta fish discount coupon. The AquaFarm is manufactured in the United States.

I followed all of the instructions and in the first week I was changing the water every other day because it would get incredible murky from the plants and "grow rocks". I was looking for a low-maintenance tank, and this is definitely not it. I ended up throwing out all of the plants, grow rocks, and pots for the plants. It is also depressingly minimalist and I ended up spending as much on more rocks and hiding places for my beta as I did on the tank itself. Don't buy this tank!

Purchased this aquafarm a few days ago. So far so good.Since I purchased a beta (.99 cent beta coupon included with the tank!), I had to install a small 10w heater.Water is still cloudy but this is to be expected according to the instructions.Wheat grass is growing pretty quickly!I will take the water to be tested in a week or so to make sure it is actually filtering.
