For $60 for a bag of food, and all of the positive review that are posted (not sure if negative reviews are rejected), I expected my yellow lab to absolutely LOVE this stuff - but that wasn't the case. She hardly touches the stuff and will often go a couple of days without eating it until she's practically starving. She's never been like that with the Purina products we've bought her in her 5 years of existence. Her ear problems haven't subscided in the months we've been feeding her Royal canin either. We're switching back to Purina, thank you very little.

Great for skinny Labs

My dogs are more the field type Lab, leaner, faster, a bit taller than the low riding, thick, show Lab. They are both extremely active, we live on 20 acres and they run around the property several times a day. My male has a hard time keeping weight on. We were on all the 'fancy' dog foods - Blue Buffalo, TOTW, Canidae (which is horrible now), and both dogs had runny stool all the time (even after de-worming) and were thin. Even our vet said she'd like to see 20lbs more on them! I've owned Labs in the past, and given RC. Some how I was convinced these other 'fancy' dog foods were better, as many websites seem to suggest and trends about recalls, etc.. Yet my dogs have never had so much gas, burping, and bouts of vomiting while on 'fancy foods'. I recently put them back on RC and already there is a noticeable difference. Weight gain, but not a bunch of fat on them both, they are shedding less, ears are nice and pink, no build up (which they had with the 'fancy' foods). In the past, with my other dogs, I've tried Innova, many varieties, Prairie, Nature's Instinct, TOTW, Canidae, Blue B., Solid Gold, Natural Balance, Wellness, dehydrated, and raw diets and much much more. For some reason we felt we HAD to be giving them 'upgraded' food, well now I know after hoards of vet problems with past dogs, some manufacturers, (and loud mouthed individuals on the web), know what they are doing, and MANY do NOT. Royal Canin knows how to make a great dog food - that works. We're staying on it for a long long time.
